How It Began
I’ve lived in Willow Glen for 36 years, watching the neighborhood grow as new families arrived and life sped up around us.
During the pandemic, I spent more time with neighbors—and realized how much they had to share, and how rarely those stories were captured.

I’ve always been curious about people and the lives they’ve lived. But nothing prepared me for how much history sits quietly in the homes around us.An object on a shelf. An accent that carries a continent. A journey that began with a single suitcase and became a whole American life.These stories are everywhere—often shared, but almost never kept.

Who will be conducting the sessions?
I am Deepa Caveney, founder of Heart & Time, and I personally facilitate every session. There are no rotating staff or subcontractors — you will have my consistent presence throughout.
Are you background checked?
Yes. I maintain a comprehensive background check, and professional references are available upon request.
What languages do you work in?
Sessions are conducted in English. If you have specific language needs, please mention this when you reach out and we'll discuss what's possible.
How It Works
What is the engagement process like?
Getting started is straightforward:• Fill out the short form by clicking the "Let's Connect" button.
• Deepa will be in touch to schedule a brief introductory call.
• A simple Service Agreement is emailed for your signature.
• Payment is made in full to confirm your session.
• Session begins — at home, in your garden, or somewhere that feels right. A quiet park bench works just as well.
What are sessions like?
Warm, unhurried, and conversational. Sessions feel like a good conversation with someone who is genuinely curious about your life — not an interview, not a performance. You don't need to prepare anything in advance. You are the expert on your life.
Where do sessions take place?
All sessions are in-person, in your home. Heart & Time serves Willow Glen, Campbell, Los Gatos, and the neighbourhoods in between.
How quickly can a session be scheduled?
Once we've connected on the phone and agreed on the right engagement, sessions are typically scheduled within one to two weeks.
How do I prepare?
You don't need to. There are no scripts, no rehearsals, and no right answers. If you'd like to have a few photos, objects, or memories in mind, that can be a lovely starting point — but it's entirely optional.
How many people can join a session?
Sessions are designed for one person at a time. This creates the safety and intimacy that allows the real stories to surface. In some cases — particularly for Artifact Storytelling — a second family member may be appropriate. We can discuss this during the Introductory phone call.
What if I'm not sure which engagement is right?
Not sure which is right for you? Reach out and Deepa will help you find the best fit before you commit to anything.
The Deliverables
How will I receive the recordings or documents?
All deliverables are provided digitally — audio files via secure transfer, written documents as a formatted PDF. You choose where to store and share them from there.
Who owns the recordings and documents?
You do. Everything created through Heart & Time belongs entirely to you and your family.
What happens after the sessions end?
You receive your deliverable — polished, complete, and entirely yours. Some clients choose to return for a second engagement. There is no obligation, and no pressure.
Pricing & Commitment
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on your location and discussed during your Introductory Call. Once agreed, a simple Service Agreement is sent by email before your session begins.
What is your refund policy?
If for any reason Heart & Time isn't the right fit after our Introductory call, I will refund any amount paid in full. Once sessions have commenced, refunds are considered on a case by case basis.
Logistics & Policies
Will someone else step in if you’re unavailable?
No — Heart & Time engagements are personally led by me to ensure consistency and quality. If a visit needs to be moved, I will reschedule it directly with you.
What areas do you serve?
I offer in-person engagements in Willow Glen, Campbell, and Los Gatos.
What is the policy for cancellations or rescheduling?
Life happens. If you need to reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible and we will find a new time that works for you.• Cancellations made more than 7 days before your session receive a full refund
• Cancellations made within 7 days of your session are refunded at 50%, less a $75 administrative fee
• Sessions missed without notice are non-refundableWherever possible, I will work with you to find a solution.
